You can´t bring beer and women to a hotel room.


Do you have any bad experiences with camping?
When I was in military school in Kiruna me and private Haglund had to lay naked and hug each other in one sleepingbag in order not to freeze to death.


What would make camping more attractive for you in the future?
Less Swedish dancemusic, less campinguniforms (blue with yellow stripes), more iron maiden.

When I was a child I went camping with my family in Croatia, where I was born.

Why did you chose to go camping instead of staying in a hotel/hostel?
It was much cheaper to camp than to stay at hotels, and we enjoyed to socialize with our friends at the campingsite.

Do you have any bad experiences with camping?
Ants, bugs and spiders.

What would make camping more attractive for you in the future?
It should be like an ordinary summer cottage! Tv, internet, nice showers and a terrace with flowers.

This summer, we went camping in Norway with my parents caravan.

Why did you chose to go camping instead of staying in a hotel/hostel?
Since my family have their own caravan it´s very convenient.

Do you have any bad experiences with camping?
Food sucks, my hair becomes frizzy during the nights when the caravan gets humid and there´s annoying people everywhere.

What would make camping more attractive for you in the future?
Quiet departments on the camping site, like the “quiet wagon” on trains.

Two years ago when I went canoeing with my mother in Bohuslän.

Why did you chose to go camping instead of staying in a hotel/hostel?
To experience the nature and live a real outdoor-life.

Do you have any bad experiences with camping?
It´s often cold during the nights and the lack of hygiene facilities are exhausting if you go camping for a while.

What would make camping more attractive for you in the future?
I would really like to go hiking in northern Sweden, mountainhiking is cool and challenging.

To be honest with you, it was about 8 years ago. Since then I had not enough time for a longer holiday.
But I will go camping, you just reminded me.

Why did you choose to go camping instead of staying in a hotel/hostel?
I love the nature, the trees, the smell of grass, to watch the moon and stars…
I am romantic. Also it is easy to learn to know others. I really like having barbecues with the neighbors in the evenings.

Could you tell me about negative aspects of camping?
I have had problems with the security at one place. I lost my chairs once.
At a camping place there has to be electricity, water and equipment.

What is your image about a camper?
In my opinion, campers are very sensitive people, they are feeling everything and appreciate the nature values.
Otherwise they are not real campers.

What would make camping more attractive for you in the future?
There has to be more security. And I want to be able to choose the right and good places.

When was the last time you went camping?
In Spain in november 2006.

Why did you choose to go camping instead of staying in a hotel/hostel?
Because of money it wasn't as expensive and just for about 2 nights.

Could you tell me about negative aspects of camping?
missing equipment, something to boil water with is important to have.
I don't like the moskitos.
I have been to that nearly empty camping place, scared at night about footsteps next to our tent and it was too far away from the city.

What is your image about a camper?
beage hat, white kneesocks, hawaii-shirt, scruffy, fishing, belly, drinking beer

What would make camping more attractive for you in the future?
It has to be clean and I would like to have equipment shopping possibilities.

Like real camping?…with my parents, when I was a little child, that is ages ago, I think that was '95..?

Why did you choose to go camping instead of staying in a hotel/hostel?
I think my parents went because of the nature.
It it really depends on who you go traveling with, because not everyone likes camping.

Could you tell me about negative aspects of camping?
I hate noisy neighbors and the result of sleepless nights, rubbish on the camping sides and no air in the airbed.

What is your image about a camper?
Ok, now I am outing myself as a person with prejudices: of course the swimmingsuit,a bear belly, maybe a hawaii-shirt, beach thongs, they start barbecuing around 12, they wear funny hats, she has no bear belly, but curly hair and sunglasses
and wears funny loud colours.

why do you think they go camping?
It is cheap…and because of the children, they have rented a parking space, where they go on holiday every year.

What would make camping more attractive for you in the future?
Camping should be closer in harmony with nature, but that seems hard to realize..

I have no camping experience.

What would make you go camping?
I would go with someone with experience. I would like to keep my private sphere, and I would need someone who looks after my pets (have 3 cats).

I cannot really think of it, where i come from (shanghai) we hardly have experience on camping i think.

They are more alternative and love the nature.

I have no idea.

What would make you go camping?
It has to be clean, safe and comfortable.
I would not like to stay in a tent, rather in a holiday cabin. But not in a camping area, I prefer it out in the nature, I just remember- I have slept in a tent with my best friend in garden of my parents.

Could you tell me about negative aspects of camping?
There are too many people and you have no real private sphere.
I don't like public sanitary installations.

What is your image about a camper?
They live in close touch with the nature and are very communicative.

What would make camping more attractive for you in the future?
Not sure, people camping shall feel happy...

It´s been 10 years since I stayed in a tent and 3 years since I stayed in a cabin.

It was convenient when I went skiing, close to the slopes.

No bad experiences, its all about adapting to a simpler life.

no special image, anyone could be a camper.

What would make camping more attractive for you in the future?

I think that in future there will be more alternatives...there will be cottages in new 

versions, more specified for different targetgroups.

A skiingtripp. We stayed in a cabin because we had a dog and it wasn´t allowed in the Hotels.

It's cold, uncomfortable and the service facilities tend to be a bit distasteful and smelly.

What does your picture of the typical camper look like?

The typical campers allways have barbeques and drink alot of grogg...but they could also be the opposite; very quiet, alone in nature...go on hikes. sound and healthy.

What would make camping more attractive for you in the future?

I think camping will increase. There will be more products that makes it easier to stay out in the nature. People sit alot more now than ever, so we need to go out and camp.

"man ska ha husvagn...", "sunes sommar" (swedish movies) Middleclass families in matching tracksuites. 

What would make camping more attractive for you in the future?

New forms of campingsites...with different themes, like a youthcamping, where you don´t have to worry about disturbing other guests.

I was hiking.

staying in a tent at a campingsite, it was crowded. Caravans everywhere...

What does your picture of the typical camper look like?

There are alot of stereotypes, like the hiker, the caravan family etc.

What would make camping more attractive for you in the future?

I think that in the future there will be more bike-campers and hikers. All campingsite will be more "green", more environment friendly.

I´m a scout so it was a part of a scoutactivity...that´s pretty much what we do.

Do you have any bad experience from camping?

One time we set up camp on a meadow and in the morning the farmer sent out his cows to us. I don´t think he wanted us there.

What does your picture of the typical camper look like?

When I think of camping I think of scouts.

What would make camping more attractive for you in the future?

Camping doesn´t have to change to stay popular, as long as allemansrätten (the swedish right of common access) exists there will be alot of campers.
